If the Nats can beat LA while exhausted, then I can get through work while exhausted.

...doesn't mean I'll accomplish anything today, though.

Stevey L!

What a sweet win. Losing Sunday had to be a heartbreaker for this team, and then they were forced to get on a plane and wing their way west, arriving in la-la land at 5 am! MLB gives the Nats/Expos the screw job again!

My boy Loaiza got his rest though, heading to Cali early in order to get a good night's sleep. And it showed. His control was spot on, and he located his pitches, keeping the Dodgers off balance. And for once, Frankie pulled the starter at exactly the right time!

Apparently, the guys on the team were really loose and relaxed, despite the exhaustion. It took six innings for the bats to wake up, but they woke up with a vengeance.

Down 1-0 in the 7th, the Nats tied it up on a fielder's choice. There's something unsatisfying about scoring on an FC, I don't know what it is. Almost like you didn't earn it.

But then Big Boy Baerga picked us up with a pinch-hit RBI single. That was all we needed, but the big boppers, Castilla and Guillen, got us 4 more in the eighth and ninth.

The Nats had their backs against the wall on this one. It would have been really, really easy to blow this game after a disappointing loss to the friggin Mets and a brutal trip West.

But like Frankie said, I'm not too sure anything rattles these guys. And they're going to need to keep the same attitude to deal with some crippling injuries - including Sledge's hamstring.

I've usually noticed that it's the second day of a grueling trip that's the worst. Your adrenaline carries you through the first, and just isn't there for the second.

This'll be Guzman's night to err, no doubt.

I hate to admit that Charley Steiner put me right to sleep. I was gone by the fifth.

Imagine trying to listen to Steiner AND John Sterling last year. Ick.
